I know you hear from us a lot about fundraising deadlines, and it can often feel a bit stressful. Every day we are crunching the numbers to make sure that we have the resources that we need to build a campaign that will make you and all of our supporters proud. We know that you are counting on us to get out Joe’s message, to win this primary, and then to beat Donald Trump. We feel that pressure every day.
That’s why I get so excited about days like today when we get to share good news with you. When we ran the numbers this morning, we saw what we’d been hoping for all Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks to your support, this campaign raised as much money in the first two months of this quarter as we did in the WHOLE third quarter.
Why is that so important?
Every dollar we raise from here on out sends a message to Donald Trump that his attacks aren’t working. Trump is so afraid to face Joe next fall that he asked a foreign government to get involved in fabricating a smear to take Joe down. His campaign and special interest groups have spent millions of dollars airing ads spreading those same lies to try and make sure Joe isn’t the Democratic nominee. Your support makes clear that Trump’s impeachable acts have backfired on him. And he knows it.
Every dollar that you can give to this campaign over the next month sends a message to Democratic voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, Super Tuesday states and beyond that the momentum of this campaign is building. And thanks to your support, we can turn that momentum into more doors knocked, more calls made, and eventually more support in the caucus rooms and in the ballot box for this campaign.
Before these numbers came in, we already knew that there was a broad base of support for Joe’s candidacy across America. It isn’t just because the national polls show it. It is because the values he embodies and the policies that he is putting forward represent what the American people want. They want a leader like Joe who will work to protect and build on Obamacare to give them the peace of mind that access to quality, affordable health care offers. They want a leader like Joe who can stand on the world stage and restore our reputation abroad, not embarrass us like Donald Trump inevitably will in the UK this week. They want a leader who is focused on bringing this country together and rebuilding our backbone -- the middle class.
We aren’t done yet -- not by a long shot. But I wanted to take a moment today to thank you for the incredible support you have given this campaign over the past seven months.
Together, we will elect Joe Biden and defeat Donald Trump.
