Team: Today, millions of families will start receiving monthly checks as a part of the expanded Child Tax Credit.

As a mother, I know just how much this means to families and children in the short term. These credits will help parents cover monthly expenses, pay for school supplies as summer comes to a close, and importantly, deliver some much-needed peace of mind.

As someone passionate about children and education, I also know that this program is projected to help cut the child poverty rate in half. This is the American Rescue Plan at work, no thanks to a single Republican in Congress.

We're watching in real time what's possible when Democrats hold majorities in Congress, but if we don't continue electing Democrats nationwide, we could lose all of the ground we've gained this year.
